Suede laminated greeting cards printed with raised foil add a stunning sensory experience to your greeting card line, invitations and folding cards. Raised foil greeting cards are printed in full colour on substantial 19pt cardstock with velvet soft matte suede lamination applied on both sides.
The elements to be printed in raised foil are added to the front and back (outside) panels of your cards in silver, gold or iridescent foil that is elevated to reflect light in beautiful contrast on the matte suede surface.
Coatings Make The Colour Vary
Colours under suede lamination will appear slightly muted and may alter the final result. (Even 100% K will appear somewhat charcoal in colour.) Colour matching of artwork is not suited to this product.
What is the difference between Foil Stamping and Raised Foil
Foil Stamping has a flat finish foil whereas Raised Foil has a raised foil finish. If you run your fingers over the card you will feel the foil. Ask us for a sample to see and feel the difference for yourself!
Fine Details Don't Translate Well To Raised Foil
Due to the nature of the raised foil application fine details may expand and fill in unexpectedly. If the foil layer includes a lot of fine detail, tight corners, etc., the foil will result in some filling in, especially at smaller sizes. We do not recommend having fonts smaller than 10pt on the Raised Foil Artwork. If you use fonts with thicker strokes or bold fonts, we do not recommend having fonts smaller than 12pt. Make sure that raised foil designs are as simple and large as possible.
Not For Large Areas Of Foil Coverage
For best results, please make sure that foil coverage is less than 50%. Otherwise, the foil will be wavy and won’t look good. The only time a 50-75% coverage is acceptable is with patterns, thin strokes or small shapes.
Can I have any printing under the raised foil?
We highly recommend having a solid colour behind the foil mask. Elements under the foil mask might be visible through the foil after application.
Knockouts Are Not Recommended
Knockouts are not recommended since there may be a shift (up to 1/16”) when the foil is applied.
Foil Layer Must Be Supplied As Vector
For this finishing method, the mask file must be a vector file created in vector-based programs such as Illustrator.
